“Homeowners shouldn’t have to choose between over-paying for a great experience at a luxury design-build company or rolling the dice with one of the thousands of cheap “free estimate” contractors.
At Ziebart Construction, we strive to be the best mid-priced remodeler in Oregon. With all the benefits people love from luxury companies (award-winning designs, guaranteed fixed price agreements, transparent processes, amazing client reviews, etc.), but without overspending.
Our competitive advantage is clear in 2 ways. First, is price. We own our own cabinet company (which produces furniture-quality wood cabinets at nearly 75% off as part of the full remodel experience). Second, is customer service. The Ziebart team believes in treating others the way we want to be treated. We strive to maintain a culture of quality, integrity, family, faith and fun. We look forward to serving you!”
-Matt Ziebart
We had some challenges arise on the job but Ziebart construction ultimately handled the situation well enough that we’re happy to leave a 5 star review. Know that if you choose Ziebart that you’ll be in good hands with a company whose owner will stand by their work.

Portland, OR Bathroom, Powder Room, Closet & Window Design Build
Matt and his team did a good job on our kitchen remodel and new floors.
The process was fast, organized, and everything looks beautiful.
When you do a major remodel like this, there’s always something that’s not perfect depending on how picky you are; and HGTV doesn’t show you that stuff.
With our remodel, there were some issues with communication on both sides.
Ziebart Construction was not the cheapest quote we got either, but we liked Matt and we felt comfortable him.
Moving on to the actual remodel, we were not happy with the layout of the semi-custom cabinets we bought. The CAD drawings we got were 2-D and we couldn’t really “see” how the cabs would look installed. We had to pay extra to replace & modify some of them.
In the end, we wound up paying about the same price as full custom cabinets (+ $1000.00 more). In hind sight, we wish we had bought the computer virtual tour and gone with the full custom cabs at the start.
The quality of the semi-custom & full custom/modified cabinets we bought were very good.
To be fair, Matt was being careful in our initial interview as our budget was fixed. An extra $500 for the virtual tour would have put us over budget as his quote for the work was already at our max.
He did allow us to go over budget later on when we asked and with very reasonable terms so we could get the fixes & extras that we wanted.
Next, we wish we would have made a different choice on the quartz counters.
We love the counters we got, but there wasn’t enough material left over to get a bigger island or a matching piece of stone for the window ledge without buying another entire slab of quartz ($4000.00). We weren’t told this till the stone was cut so it was too late to research something else.
We bought beautiful vinyl floors (floating, click lock style), and had Ziebart Construction install them for us.
This type of flooring could not be installed without plastic transition strips between every door way in the house. When you step on those plastic strips, they make a slight crunch sound. It’s hard to fault Matt’s guys for this one as we researched & bought the flooring ourselves. The store we bought it from didn’t really make it clear that we had to have transition strips; only that our installer might want them.
By the time Matt’s flooring guy came (just before install), he told us why we needed them. We felt committed at that point because the material was already bought & onsite.
Matt and his trades do good work and the little things we didn’t like were addressed quickly. We do recommend Ziebart Construction and intend to use them again later for our bathroom remodels.
From a consumer standpoint:
Be sure to buy the $500 virtual tour if you’re getting new cabinets.
Make sure you’re prepared before each meeting with your most important questions. They’re very busy and you only get so much time with Matt or Rick to go over things.
Some of our meetings felt rushed, but we’ll take the blame for that, we asked lots of questions. Communications via cell, and text were responsive.
Study the contracts and be clear about what you want & what you think you’re getting before you sign it. Do this via email with Matt before he comes over, he won’t have time to make a lot of changes onsite.
Once you sign the contract; your locked in and the work starts quickly.
After we got started, we did LOTS of extra demo, prep, cleanup, purchases, & design decisions hoping to reduce the cost of the project. When the trades came in, they literally had a clean slate to work with.
In the end, the price was the same as quoted (minus the materials we had bought), which was disappointing but it does look beautiful.
Again, be clear on what you’re getting, and what you’re going to do in terms of purchases, demo, prep, etc. before you sign the contract.
Be sure to keep an eye on the work as you go. The trades people are busy too and they don’t read minds. If you don’t like something; reach out to Matt or Rick and they’ll fix it.
*Note: When the final bill came in, the project did cost less than my math said it should be. I suspect that Matt may have reduced the remaining bill for the fixes/add-ons a little to fit my max monthly payment ability we had talked about earlier.
I think this speaks to the character of who he is and that’s another reason why we’ll use & recommend Ziebart Construction again despite the hiccups.

Tualatin, OR Kitchen and Hardwood Floor Remodeler
My carpet install was originally scheduled for Monday Sept. 14, but was cancelled due to the smoke. I was very stressed and anxious over this decision, as my condo would remain in disarray for longer than anticipated. Matt was great, he remained calm and supportive, saying that we’d work thru it. Fortunately, and I assume thanks to his effort, we were able to reschedule for only 10 calendar days later; thank you Matt for this reassuring approach around the hectic days thanks to our wildfires.
Also, Matt was great in that he provided a number of nice additional “touches” to the finish of the project – one small thing but greatly appreciated was getting new drawer knobs, replacing the old scratched ones at no charge. Matt consistently brings a calm approach; I appreciated his strong faith & knowledge. Each “sub” was excellent – I sensed it was important to Matt that he brings quality sub-contractors into his customers homes.
My only suggestion going forward is to remain as much of an advocate for your customer’s requests as possible. For me, a top priority was to install new, thicker carpeting + a nicer/thicker (if possible) pad. I felt like I had to “push” or be more of my own advocate than I anticipated. Ultimately, we were able to accomplish this objective and I’m grateful for the work Matt and his group did not only for my carpeting, which is awesome, but for all the other elements of my project, principally my master bath remodel. Thank you Matt, and Ziebart Construction!

Portland, OR Master Bathroom Remodel & Whole House Flooring
Matt and his wife gave us great service from design through the end of construction. Our remodel included opening up the old 1960’s galley kitchen, Living Room and Dining Room into one great room. In addition, Ziebart’s remodeled 2 of our bathrooms and created a massive walk-in closet. Without Matt and Jacqui we would not have realized the full potential of our home. Additionally, we felt their pricing was always fair and they’re great communicators. We will use them again on future projects.

McVey South Shore, OR Kitchen, Living Room, Dining Room & Great Room Contractor
We bought a house in need of major repairs and a full house remodel.
Everything from ALL new cabinets to all new flooring, all new lights, all new indoor paint, complete master bath remodel, raising of the sunken living room, matching of the existing hard wood floors with the new flooring. Very extensive. Everything turned out very nice. Nobody can tell the difference between the new hardwood and the 20 year old hardwood…everybody just assumes it is all new. The new wrought iron railing needed extra bracing. A custom brace was made and installed.
As all the reviews have stated…Matt is a great guy. We were always comfortable with him in our home and in charge of all the subs. We always felt like he wanted to make sure we were happy with the finished product. He saw little things wrong , and had them fixed before we even saw them.
We were in a bit of a hurry to get the project started because the house was empty and that makes working on a house much easier for everyone.
Having said that…. we would have liked to have had a little more time in the beginning of our project for picking out ALL the fixtures, tile, carpet, cabinets, counters, back splashes, etc..
A few little hiccups along the way, but that is to be expected. Matt was always available for any concerns.
We would not hesitate to use/or recommend Ziebart Construction again.

If you are considering hiring Ziebart Construction, please take the time to read my assessment below. This was a full renovation of the interior of my house, so this was a very big decision for me, and I was nervous about flipping the switch. After thorough research on Home Advisor, I set up an appointment with Ziebart Construction at my home. By the end of the meeting, I knew I was ready to move forward, and although I was still nervous, I was comfortable with the explanation of the process, the projected timeline, and what to expect.
From the very beginning both Matt and Jacqui Ziebart were thoughtful, transparent, thorough, great listeners, quick to respond to questions and concerns, and open to other ideas and opinions. Matt did an excellent job coordinating all the people involved in this project. I was also impressed with the reliability, work ethic, and quality of the experts (plumbers, electricians, flooring/trim, tile, painters, etc.) that were part of the Ziebart team. Jacqui Ziebart was great and helped with color coordination, lighting fixture styles, flooring choices, and explained how it would all work together. I could not have done this without Jacquie’s input.
If you look at the before and after pictures you can see that this was a complete transformation and I am completely thrilled with the incredible results! I absolutely love my renovated house and I highly recommend Ziebart Construction!
Excellent results! Whole process went very smoothly. Matt Ziebart and I walked through my 100 year old basement to outline the scope of work and many items in need of repair, he helped advise (wisely) on things I would be able to tackle myself and what was best left up to the professionals. Scope of work included mold, demolition, framing & structural repairs, the renovation team performing the work were professional and extremely efficient with the time it took to complete, I was also pleasantly surprised by how clean they were able to leave the work space with all of the demo work that had taken place. Looking forward to enjoying our newly refurbished basement! Thanks team.

Portland OR Affordable Basement Remodelers
Matt and his spouse, Jacqui, are great communicators and super creative. We would not have achieved the full potential of our remodel without their great ideas. Every sub-contracter offered great quality under Matt’s supervision. We remodeled a kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a master bedroom. We couldn’t be happier and will use them again.

The project is handle by Matt and David. David is the person who complete most of the task including demolish and dry wall repair. We appreciate that he always looks into detail and have keep quality as high priority. For sure there was some argument between the billing and the schedule, but overall we complete a nice looking farmhouse style kitchen with light color wooden flooring. it is a good experience.
