A Letter From Our Owner
Thank you for visiting Ziebart Construction and considering us for your next home project.
It’s a joy to live and work in the community where my family has been building dreams for the last 3 generations. Hardly a day goes by where I don't drive past a home, housing development, apartment complex, commercial property or remodel that has “Ziebart” fingerprints on it somewhere. I grew up following my father around, picking up nails from his tool bags, watching as the work he did produced value for so many. - turning barren land into a community, and a community into a neighboring family. He learned it from his father and now I am teaching it to my children.
This passion for building dreams runs deep in the Ziebart name. However, it hasn't always been that way for myself. I remember "hanging up my hammer" as a young man, telling my father and grandfather, "I gotta get out of here. I'm not like you guys... It's a big World and God has something special for me out there!" . I laugh about it now because even though I did have lots of foreign adventures, education and business experiences... it turns out, I am more like them than I thought! During the eight years I lived in China I missed the smell of fresh sawdust, working with my hands and helping turn a house into a home more than almost anything else.
I share that to say - I do this because I love it not just because we are good at it. We enjoy doing this and take pride in serving our customers well. I look forward to meeting you and becoming your contractor for life!
Sincerely,
Matt Ziebart

OUR PROCESS
What Makes Us Unique? (Core Values, Pricing & Business Model)
Three legs of the stool. Our Core Values, Pricing and Business Model are very unique and set us apart from the crowd.
Our core values are: Craftsmanship, Quality, Integrity, Family, Faith and Fun
This is what refer to when we serve you the “Ziebart Way”.
We are committed to providing luxury quality service and materials at a mid-range price point. Here's how we do it:
- We leverage our reputation and buying power - Because the Ziebart family has been building in Oregon for 3 Generations, we have the network you need to streamline your project and provide a superior result. Our network provides superior pricing and scheduling for most trade services. We know the inspectors, the trade specialists and have accounts all over the state to purchase the selections you choose at a discount.
- We have (VERY) low overhead – We CHOOSE to keep our overhead low (5% average) and pass the savings onto our clients. A homeowner should not need to choose an inferior product or service because the Contractoris charging their clients 30%-50% overhead, making them pay for their showrooms and hefty personnel burden.
- We do NOT have a showroom or participate in Affiliate Programs - See, it's a car dealership model for most General Contractors with showrooms. They usually have commission based sales people that come to your home to set an appointment for you to meet the commission based sales people in the showroom who highlight only a handful of “makes and models” of home product selections (Depending on which vendors they have a contract with)… and then try to dissuade you if you if you have done your own research and have an alternative product/selection in mind. Ziebart Construction refuses to become exclusive dealers for any construction product. (Even though we have buying accounts and contractor pricing all over the place.) We’ve done the showroom model before and have concluded it's not in the client’s best interest and only adds to the overhead expense. Instead, our office declines these corporate solicitations, avoids all conflict of interests by allowing our customers to choose ANY product they want, from anywhere. (But we don’t mind telling you our favorite ones – like our popular custom cut, mid-grade quartz countertops which are cheaper than laminate from a big box store.) We have a mobile showroom of products we recommend and all clients have access to our interior decorator/designer who is able to go shopping at multiple places for an additional fee.
- We are proactive! The last way we keep our overhead down is by being proactive about it. It is so easy for any company to become top heavy and experience overhead "creep" as time passes. Most companies don't consider cutting expenses when planning for growth. They don't evaluate how expensive their overhead, admin or marking expenses are on a regular basis...because they figure they can keep charging the homeowners for the difference. Our owner, Matt Ziebart has consulted for some of the largest and most expensive remodeling firms in the region. Despite being busy and their pricing being at the top tier, it is common for their owners to say, "We NEED to sell more and increase our overhead more because we are barely breaking even!". Overhead creep can happen to any successful company but we choose to be proactive at keeping costs down for our clients. Another common reason for over-priced remodeling services is Owner Distraction is a common reason for increased overhead. It adds a financial burden to a remodeling company when the owner(s) chase shiny objects such as development and real estate flips because it borrows the company’s remodeling cash flow and increases the “break-even” amount of revenues needed on the balance sheet. A company can increase it's profits either by decreasing costs or increasing prices. We choose the former.
When choosing a contractor you need to select wisely. We've all heard the horror stories of the "cheapest", unlicensed "drunk in the truck" but homeowners also need to beware of the dangers on the other side of the pricing swing - being overcharged. Ziebart Construction is aware of our competitor's pricing. We can usually provide the SAME kitchen they do, but for the same price with us you can also afford to have the bathrooms redone at the same time.
Besides our pricing, we pride ourselves on our business model. We are:
- Efficient – We’ve all heard the horror stories of projects dragging on and on. Remodeling doesn't have to be complicated or exhausting. We don't make you wait.
- Ask about our “10 Day Kitchen Remodel” if you planning on keeping the same floor plan.
- Average timeline: Phone calls/emails returned same day. In-home design consultation appointments scheduled same week. Estimate provided at the appointment. Designs delivered in 7-10 days (if needed).
- Good Communicators - You don't have to wonder what is missing. You will have a dedicated project manager from start to finish. - And if there are any changes along the way, we will submit a change order for your approval.
- Easy to Work With – Whether you are starting from scratch or already have plans/products in mind, our in-home Design Consultant is your most valuable resource to turn your dream into a reality.
- We don't charge for designs if you hire us to do the work. (Industry standard “design fee” is 5% - 8% of total job cost.)
- Furthermore, we remove the guesswork by providing 2D/3D and Virtual Reality renderings so you can see your kitchen BEFORE it is built.
- Fun - Work with who you like! Our design consultation appointment is not a sales meeting – it is a discovery meeting to see if we are a good fit for you AND if you are a good fit for us! No commissioned sales people – We wont try to upsell your ideas, push a particular product or service. We usually start with the question, “ What do you envision?” Then, "What is the point of pain this remodel would serve?” ...We REALLY listen to you. It doesn't matter to us if you spend $100 or $100,000. Our role is to ensure that you get what you want in a timely manner...and that we all have fun along the way.
